Tempus Fugit! Adventure Club and the pursuit of dreams

This week I met with my architect and oldest bother, Glenn, to go over the final plans for the house on Big Hill.
I had no business looking for land that day, since I had nothing saved for a down payment on land.
But I went anyway. I drove up an impossibly steep hill, parked on the road side, and then meandered down a dirt path to see the view. I found a ladder placed in some thick brush and climbed to the top. The view I saw took my breath and my heart away. And I knew it would be mine. A week later I closed a long worked sale that gave me the down payment.
This is the story of how I found my way from the suburbs of Dallas, TX to the tiny town of Glen Rose, TX in pursuit of dreams.
I am divorced and almost 47. Around here I am known as a "single professional lady" (which I think is a hoot). My son, Tim, is 26, and so despite growing up with 10 brothers and sisters I have lived alone for most of the last 10 years.
Five years ago I started an adventure club with my sister Linda. We finally decided on Tempus Fugit! ("time flies" in Latin). Our motto is, "Tempus fugit! and so do we!" On one fateful adventure we all took a week long trip to the Texas Hill country. We cycled and swam, kayaked and hiked. We did watercolors to adorn our cabin, played volleyball and sat outside watching the sun go down. I played my guitar and sang under the stars.
Sometime during that week I made a sudden yet firm decision to move to the Texas hill country. I was prepared to quit my job and start fresh. Then on the scenic route home I saw a sign to "Historic Glen Rose" and decided to drive through. I never got out of my car, but by the time I got to the other side of town it felt like home. So I started making calls as I drove the last 100 miles, letting everyone know I would be moving.
